Peter is a social entrepreneur with 14 years of multi-disciplinary experience that allows him to draw upon a broad range of knowledge. His highly diverse career includes law , technology, dance, music, marketing and several business start-ups . He is a regular public speaker as well as a media personality in Tampa Bay in print, local television and radio. He is a graduate of the
Ohio State University (B.A.) and Case Western Reserve School of
Law (J.D.)
Most significantly, he is the President of Creative Tampa Bay, an organization that is dedicated to enacting the principles of the Creative Economy within the region. As President he is the voice for the young organization, both raising awareness of the principles of the Creative Economy and speaking out on community issues that fit within Creative Tampa Bay's mandate of economic development from a people perspective. He is an active public
speaker and a regular guest on local television and radio.
In addition to Creative Tampa Bay, he sits on the City of Tampa's Creative Industries Council, is a board member of The Studio@620, the Clearwater Arts Foundation , a member of the Marketing Committee for the Tampa Bay Community Foundation, and member of the Advisory Board of the Dunedin Fine Arts Center. He previously sat on the Florida Orchestra's Marketing Committee . He has worked with Richard Florida and his team on several projects, and with Charles Landry , founder of Comedia, the U.K.'s leading cultural development consultancy. In Australia, Peter has worked with LQA & Associates on the emerging Creative Catalysts program. In February of 2005 he traveled to Perth, Australia to lecture at the Global Village on the Move program at Curtin University, and shared the stage with Richard Florida in presentations to the City of Perth and their leadership. In June 2005, he was a panelist with Charles Landry in London, Ontario, discussing community-based change agents. He recently returned from the north of England on a tour of the creative industry sector there, along with some of the prototype projects including the Kirklees Media Centre and the Creative Town Initiative .
With his partner, Michelle Bauer, he is the co-founder and producer of the Creative Cities Summit, a first of its kind conference in Florida that gathered together practitioners in the Creative Economy from all over the world in September of 2004. In October of 2006, they produced the Sarasota International Design Summit , the first ever design conference for the Ringling School of Art & Design. In November of 2007, the second Design Summit takes place, again produced by SMG.
In 2006, he traveled to Jamaica, Rwanda, England and Germany to research creative industry initiatives and best practices. And in 2007 his travels included Northern Ireland, Singapore, Thailand, Hong Kong and Sweden to meet with other creative industry and community leaders.
He lives in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida.
